BABY WAS FORSAKEN.

Now the Parents Are Held to the Grand Jury.

Emma Walsh, 20 years old, and William Walsh, 29 years old, were arraigned in the police court today on the unusual charge of abandoning an infant. The complaint was made by Superintendent Tattersfield of the city poor department.

The Walshes are recent arrivals from Canada. The woman went at once to a hospital, where she gave birth to a child two weeks ago. As soon as she was able to get up she gathered together her belongings and vanished, without saying a word about the baby or leaving any address where she might be found. Superintendent Tattersfield was called on to make provision for the infant and made up his mind that it was a good case to prosecute, by way, of making an example. So he called in the police and they finally located the Walshes in Camden.

The couple waived examination and were held to the grand jury in bonds of $500.
