1875 Minnesota Census
103,186 Records
KinSource's 1875 Minnesota Census Database contains a more complete set of names than other 1875 Minnesota Census records on the Web. This database contains records that are not available, or are unreadable, on the microfilm, including the full names of people whose first names cannot be read on the microfilm. Also, household numbers that cannot be seen on a huge number of 1875 census pages have been obtained so that household groups can be displayed. KinSource has also used various records to verify the census transcriptions for accuracy. These include the Minnesota Death Record Index, the 1885 Minnesota Census and the 1875 Minneapolis City Directory for Minneapolis schedules.
KinSource's 1875 Minnesota State Census is a searchable database that is available via subscription. The 1875 Minnesota Census database is especially useful for locating information about people living in Minnesota between the 1870 and 1880 Federal Censuses. These records may be the first available record for immigrants to the United States, since many immigrants came to Minnesota in the 1870's. This database is an every name index, and the records are searchable by first and/or last name, including the ability for Soundex searches. You can also limit the search to specific counties. Once you find a name, you can view all members of that household which can be very helpful when trying to find someone with a very common name.
The 1875 Minnesota Census database contains the following fields for each enumerated person: Name, age, sex, race, birthplace, father's birthplace and mother's birthplace, plus the location of the entry in the census rolls.
The following describes the counties that are or are not currently included in the database, or view an 1875 map of Minnesota for the current transcription status.
