HORSE SLID DOWN STAIRS.

Was On His Way to S. E. Olson's Basement Restaurant.

An exciting Minneapolis runaway occurred Saturday afternoon. A horse belonging to T. F. Warren, dashed down Fourth street from Second avenue south at a terrific pace. At First avenue south the runaway struck a piano in front of the Century Piano company's store, which a crew of men were loading , rendering it fit only for kindling wood, the buggy slid around and crashed through one of the Century Piano company's big plate glass windows. The frightened horse then dashed on and head first into the First avenue basement stairway of Olson's big store, which leads into its restaurant. The horse stuck in the stairway through its inability to pull the buggy past the railing. Officer Gould, Olson's special policeman, managed to turn the horse around and led it back upstairs. The horse reached the sidewalk practically uninjured. The superintendent of police announced that the police had no authority to hold the animal for damages, and it was turned over to its owner.
