The Button Woman
The rankest specimen of a female tough ever seen in this section visited Luverne last Monday. She was engaged in selling some kind of a patent button fastener, and gave every man she met an opportunity and an urgent invitiation to buy. During the afternoon she got drunk but very fortunately she was persuaded to leave town before it became necessary to provide accomodations for her in the cooler.
The "button woman" referred to elsewhere in these columns visited Sioux Falls Tuesday and the Press favored her with the following notice: "Sioux Falls has been favored with all kinds of odd characters in the past, but she never enjoyed a "queen bee" in this line until the button woman struck the city yesterday. She's a hummer. An hour after beginning operations she was the talk of the town. She is irresistable and the man who escapes buying a button from her is a tough one. She will pull a man's clothing all off in searching for a detached button to replace. Some timid citizens are compelled to call for police protection. She must be seen in operation to be appreciated."
