WOLLEY SHY
Gets Married and Then Gets Indicted
West W. Wooley who spent the greater part of last fall at Franklin had a surprise tendered him the other day when the Brown county grand jury brought in an indictment against him for embezzlement. Wooley's work at this place was coarse, very coarse. On leaving Franklin there were several little formalities which he forgot to attend to; Chief among them was his debts.
It is only fair to state that Wooley's tactics should not disparage the standing of the Inter-State Accident and Relief Association. Thus far they have discharged their obligations in a prompt and dignified way.
The Minneapolis Sunday Tribune contained the following special from New Ulm:
The Brown county grand jury which has been out since Tuesday, yesterday sprung a surprise by indicting West W. Wooley, former grand chancellor of the Minnesota Knights of Pythias, on a charge of embezzlement.
Until recently Wooley has been state agent for the Inter-state Accident and Relief association, of this city, but some weeks ago another employe was given his position. He was retained in a minor capacity by the company, however, but it is now alleged that there is a shortage in his accounts of $82, principally upon collections made at Sleepy Eye.
Wooley was married only a week ago to Lydia May Plummer of Minneapolis, the ceremony being performed by Rev. J. S. Montgomery, of Wesley M. E. church. He now resides at Grand Rapids, Minn.
Other indictments returned by the grand jury were one against Frances Groebner, the New Ulm girl held for infanticide, charging her with manslaughter in the second degree, and another [Ferdinand] Trebesch, North Star, of assault in the second degree for striking his aged father over the head with the stock of a rifle.
