WOLVES CAUGHT IN TOWN

Five Pups Encountered Near the Franklin Av. Bridge.

Otto Witte and Edward F. Sahler were wandering along the river bank between the Washington and Franklin avenue bridge yesterday afternoon when one of them spied a pack of five wolf pups. Neither of the men had firearms but they determined to go after the animals notwithstanding, and after several attempts, during which both received numerous scratches and bites, two of the pups were caught and placed in a box. Then they were taken to a cobbler, who made leather muzzles for them, after which the men came down town to exhibit their catch.

It has been many years since wolves have been seen within the city limits and how the cubs got where they were found is a mystery. As the state is not now paying a bounty on the animals, their captors will present them to the park board and they will probably be added to the Minnehaha menagerie.
