WATER WAS WANTED.

Narrow Escape of a Family From Suffocation

A two-story frame building owned by F. Welke at Como Villas was burned to the ground early yesterday morning. Mr. Welke occupied the lower story with a stock of groceries, and lived with his family in the upper portion. The fire originated in the storeroom, and the family barely escaped with their lives. The building was located at Chatsworth and Front streets, a district in which there is no provision against fire, and the inhabitants of the village could do nothing to stay the work of the flames. The loss on building and contents is placed at $2,500.
