Wm. Moore's Luck.

Wm. Moore was evidently born under a lucky star, or at any rate, his star was in ascendant yesterday or he could not have had such a miraculous escape from what in most instances would have been instant death. He is one of a big force of men who are employed in plowing up St. Peter street preparatory to paving that thoroughfare and at 9 o'clock yesterday morning he was engaged at work near the corner of Exchange street. As the plow reached that street it tore up along with the soil the top of a catch basin, the existence of which was not known by the workmen.

The plough is a heavy concern and just as the man hole became exposed an extra plunge was made and young Moore was precipitated feet first into the basin. He fell to the sewer below, a distance of thirty-two feet, landing on his pins. A score of willing hands went to the rescue and it was thought the poor fellow must be dead. He was raised to the street by a rope and windless, and on gaining the air he shook himself out, got onto his feet, and was soon able to walk home. The only apparent injury sustained was a lame back and soreness of the limbs.
