THE POLITICAL ARENA.

The Fifth Ward Cleveland, Lawler and Castle club will celebrate their first regular meeting after permanent organization by a grand rally of music and speeches this evening at C. S. P. S. hall, corner West Seventh street and Western avenue. All the precinct presidents are expected to report progress at this meeting and bring with them all the members that they have enrolled since the meeting last Saturday evening. A band of music has been engaged to play before the meeting opens and during the intermission of speaking. The speakers of the occasion will be Ambrose Tighe, William M. Campbell and several others, and all those attending will hear the issues of the approaching campaign discussed in a very able manner. Everybody in the ward is invited as well as those from other wards, and the committee on arrangements would also be pleased to have the ladies attend - the wives and daughters of those who are soon to cast a freeman's vote for their future welfare and happiness. Let no one be backward in turning out, for everybody is welcome.

GERMANS ALERT.

Earnest Talk and Work in the Ninth Ward.

The German-American Cleveland, Lawler and Castle club of the Ninth ward held a very large and enthusiastic meeting last night at Lempke's hall on Magnolia street. There were 150 Germans at the meeting. The meeting was the best ward meeting held this campaign, and the enthusiasm was unbounded. Earnest speeches were made by John Jessrang, John S. Grode and others. Mr. Grode spoke for some time on general issues and then spoke of the candidacy of J. N. Castle for congress. He said that the Germans will support Mr. Castle, because he represents their interests. The club will ask that three voting places be designated in the ward for holding the primaries, and that one of the places be at Lempke's hall. The club will also ask that it be allowed to name one of the judges at each place of holding the primaries.
