The Virtuous Eighth.

Notwithstanding the fact that there are no saloons in the virtuous Eighth ward, there are burglars there, or at least there are evidences that there have been. Thursday evening the residence of De Witt C. Hayes, at 317 East Twenty-fifth street, was entered by someone who secured an entrance through a cellar window. Mr. Hayes' clothes, which were on a chair at the head of the bed, were carried into the cellar and there gone through. The thief secured a gold pen and holder, a diamond stud and several minor articles.
