Minnesota Admitted - Almost!

Minnesotans! heads erect! Light has [at] last broken in at Washington. Minnesota can now begin to see her way "out of the woods."

By reference to the column containing the latest news, it will be seen that the bill for the admission of Minnesota has passed the Senate by the strong vote of forty eight yeas to three nays. Several Senators were absent. The three votes against it were by Southern men. We rejoice to see that no Northern man had the effrontery to vote in opposition to it.

This strong vote in the Senate we regard as settling the question in the House - in fact, it is our judgment that at this moment Minnesota is one of the SOVEREIGN STATES OF THIS UNION.

We rejoice again that Minnesota will be admitted free from conditions. As soon as the force of that monstrous Lecompton Swindle was broken in the House, her chances for admission grew brighter. The heart of every freeman in territory must bound with joy when he knows that Minnesota takes her place among her sister States without being manacled with humiliating conditions on account of Lecompton.

The event is a great one! As soon [as] it is known to a centainty that the bill has passed the House, we think our citizens should evince their joy by every laudible demonstration. - What do our citizens say to a general Jubilee!

A thousand cheers for free, independent Minnesota!
