A SAD MISTAKE. There Are no Headquarters for the Minnesota Delegation. There is a good deal of talk among the members of the Minnesota delegation and no little disappointment over the failure of the local members of the delegation to have quarters supplied for the state delegation. Some weeks ago the new Stock Exchange in the Lunber Exchange was offered for the use of the Minnesota delegation. This offer was of course accepted, and it was thought that the Minnesota aggregation would have most excellent quarters, where they could receive and entertain friends and visitors from other states. There is naturally a good deal of curiosity among the delegates from other states in regard to the attitude or probable attitude of the Minnesota delegates. When ex-Congressman Hall, Frank Day and other members of the Minnesota delegation arrived in the city the other day, they were not a little surprised to learn that no quarters had been provided. It seems that instead of untilizing the Stock Exchange, which would have made a splendid rendevous for the Minnesota people, some man or number of men took it upon themselves to convert it into what might be properly called the Minnesota Blaine headquarters. As it is today every delegation large and small, with the exception of Minnesota, is supplied with convenient and comfortable headquarters. This sort of thing has given rise to a good deal of criticism, especially among the members of the Minnesota delegation. There will be a meeting of the delegation sometime this forenoon, and in all probability a committee will be appointed to look after headquarters. As it is now, the Minnesota contingent would certainly not be in it, for the members are scattered over the whole city. |
