SIXTH IS STRONG. Two Democratic Clubs Organized Last Night. A large and enthusiastic meeting of the Democrats of the Sixth ward was held last night at Jordan hall. The issues of the campaign were discussed in an entertaining manner by D. F. Peebles, John Cavanaugh, M. J. Moran and others. A marching club of eighty-five members was formed, which will meet Tuesday night at Jordon's hall. Another Democratic marching club was formed last night in the Sixth ward, at a meeting held at Paul Martin's hall. There were ninety-six men enrolled. The officers of this club are: President, John Veigel; vice president, A. B. Volk; treasurer, J. H. Murphy; secretary, L. H. Naumann; captain, W. R. Hawthorne; first lieutenant, Judge McArthur; second lieutenant, Al Phillips; color bearers, J. H. Murphy and F. N. Peterson. The uniform of the club was decided to be white jackets, white duck overalls and white caps. Plain torches will be carried. The whole will be symbolical of a Democratic workingmen's party. Saturday evening at 7:15 o'clock the club will meet at the club rooms and march to the flats on South Wabasha street, where another club will be organized. The club has accepted an invitation from William Banholzer to go to his residence and be entertained. |
