INSTALLS EXTRA FARE TAKERS. Milwaukee Road Inaugurates Auditor System on Trains. Auditors have been installed on several of the Milwaukee trains running between Chicago and Minneapolis, who relieve the regular conductors of the task of collecting fares and tickets and otherwise aid them in "conducting" trains to their destinations. According to W. B. Foster, assistant general superintendent of the road, Minneapolis, only the trains with the heavier traffic have the auditors, three or four on the entire system. "The innovation enables regular conductors to give more of their time to their trains and insure better service to passengers," said Mr. Foster. Several other roads have already installed the plan. |
