More Drys. Freeborn and Anoka counties voted dry in the county option elections Monday, putting 15 saloons out of business. Goodhue and Sherburne voted at the same time and were won by the wets. The score of Minnesota county option elections now stands : Dry, 43 counties; wet, 8 counties. Besides that there are 3 counties wholly dry under local option and four others under application of the Indian "lid," making 50 counties out of Minnesota's 86, in which the sale of liquor is illegal. A total of 421 saloons have been voted out. There is only one more election this month, Steele county next Monday. Petitions are being circulated in Hennepin county and it's now only a matter of a few days until enough signers will have been secured to bring the issue to a vote there. Dry advocates say that they expect to see Minneapolis dry by the first of next year. |
