CELEBRATORS ARE WORSTED. Motorman Solves Problem With Simple Twigs and Branches. No more explosives on street car tracks . A Minneapolis "motoneer" has solved the problem, and, like most inventors, he will not get a cent for his discovery. The simple patent which his fertile brain evolved was made by himself and applied to his car without first obtaining permission of the company. It worked to perfection and wild-eyed celebrators saw their plans frustrated with the motorman grinned and silently sped by. The invention is composed of a thick branch of oak, reinforced by smaller twigs, bunched and tied to the wire guard in front of the car over each track, brushing them clean. The invention is so cheap that a new one can be applied each day, or several times a day, and there you are. Other "motoneers" saw the invention and followed suit and many cars were equipped. |
