SACRIFICES AUTO TO SAVE BOY George R. Beach Tries Unsuccessfully to Avoid Collision. Charles Rothenberg, 12 years old, was run into by an automoble driven by George R. Beach of the Columbus Buggy company, at Fourth street and Nicollet avenue, yesterday and slightly injured. The boy was taken to the City hospital by R. W. Munzer, but was soon able to leave for his home, 716 Fourth street south. Mr. Beach drove his auto onto the sidewalk and into a lamp post in his effort to avoid the collision, but was unsuccessful. The car was not badly damaged. According to witnesses the boy stepped off the sidewalk and directly in front of the machine and the driver was not to blame for the accident. |
